23 May My Morocco Motorcycle Adventure – Traveling with Entrepreneurs!
At the age of 60, I made the decision to start going on motorcycle adventures with others who share a passion for scaling businesses. So last fall, (during my 60th birthday), I found myself in Northern India on a Royal Enfield Himalayan, riding some of the highest motorable roads on Earth—one of them towering over 19,000 feet.
Joined by 15 other entrepreneurs from across the globe, the trip was nothing short of exhilarating. Throughout the journey, I couldn’t help but ask myself: why did I wait so long to do something like this? The truth is, I’d been so consumed with building my business that I completely overlooked work-life balance. I hadn’t made time for experiences outside of work, and I justified it with the excuse that I was just too busy.
Joining Entrepreneurs’ Organization—a group with the mission to “move the world forward by unlocking the full potential of entrepreneurs”—helped shift my perspective. Their focus on “enabling transformational growth in the lives of their members” truly resonated with me. I came to understand that in order to grow as a leader, I needed to seek balance across all areas of my life—business, personal, and family.
That realization motivated me to sign up for my first adventure. What better way to pursue personal growth than by embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime journey with fellow entrepreneurs who were walking the same path?
What began as a one-time experience quickly became something more. Just six months later, I found myself heading to Morocco for my next motorcycle adventure. Three of the original 15 riders from India joined again, while 11 new faces came along for the ride.
We all gathered in Marrakech, having traveled from all corners of the world—Africa, Australia, the U.S., and Canada. That evening, we were introduced to our rides: a fleet of BMW adventure motorcycles, ready to take us on the next leg of this incredible journey!
Marrakesh – Medina
We ventured out traveling West, heading towards the High Atlas Mountains which reach up to about 9,000 feet. We hit lots of twisty roads and even snow at the top of some of them.
We stayed in some wonderful Kasbahs along the way:
We visited some amazing places, including filming locations for Game of Thrones, Gladiator, Indiana Jones, and several other movies. We also saw stunning waterfalls and even got to experience the Sahara Desert.
Sahara – Tables and chairs on the Dunes. We stayed in the white tents for the night:
We also rode camels and 4 wheelers:
The real quality time was spent with my fellow riders, entrepreneurs and new life-long friends:
Moments of Humanity:
After 7 days of riding, we ended our trip with a morning Hot Air Balloon ride:
We met so many incredible people along the way—countless kids waving, smiling, asking for high-fives or encouraging us to rev our engines. We also made frequent stops at cozy coffee and tea shops, recharging every few hours.
This trip was a true escape from the office and business life. It gave me a chance to disconnect, build new friendships, and fully immerse myself in the ride. Being completely present—focused only on the road and the experience—was incredibly therapeutic. At the end of each day, reflecting on the day’s journey and sharing stories with fellow riders reminded me that the real joy is in the journey itself, not just the destination. It’s something I believe everyone should experience regularly.
This adventure helped me gain clarity on what truly matters in my life—and what may not be as important as I once believed (hint: business).
Already looking forward to the next Motorcycle Adventure—rumor has it, Scotland in July 2026!
